Darel Velley of Gilgit-Baltistan- Four killed over children’s fight

GILGIT (ET): At least four people died and one sustained injuries after two armed groups exchanged gunshots in a remote valley of Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday, police said.

The incident occurred in district Diamer’s Darel Valley – about 200 kilometres from Gilgit – as neighbouring kids fought with each other over a petty issue, a police official in Police Control Room at Chilas told The Express Tribune. He said the fight between kids led to injuries, following which some of them complained to their parents. Resultantly, an armed clash took place which claimed four lives. Killings as a result of family feuds are not unusual in Darel Valley, which is also one of G-B’s most backward areas, with respect to basic health and educational facilities. The cases are often settled outside the court by a jirga.
