[News] Ismaili Scouts in Hunza Celeberated 23 March

Hunza (Karim Salman Jervof): The Pak Ismaili Boy Scouts celebrated March 23 with enthusiasm and fervor.  On the occasion there were Deputy Commissioner for Hunza-Nagar District, Mr. Waqar Taj as Chief Guest, Honorary Secretary of Aga Khan Regional Council for Hunza ,Mr. Tika Khan  and member District Council Ijlal Hussain. The boy scouts passed March holding flags of Pakistan and Ismaili Imamat, following  that Scouts  presented scarves to the chief guest.

The boy scouts paid tributes to late Shezad Sher who has sacrificed his life while serving people in need under very dangerous conditions at the blockage of Hunza River.  

Dr Shama Khalid takes oath as Gilgit-Baltistan’s first woman governor

ISLAMABAD, Mar 23 (APP): Dr Shama Khalid on Tuesday took oath as Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan, becoming the first woman assuming governorship in the country’s history. The chief judge Supreme Appellate Court of Gilgit-Baltistan administered oath to Dr Shama Khalid at a special investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, witnessed by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdii Shah and federal ministers.

President Zardari had appointed Dr Shama Khalid as the Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday.

Dr Shama Khalid is a leading social worker who voluntarily worked in different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan by establishing free summer medical camps every year.
