Hunza: Samina Khayal Baig, the renown mountaineer from Hunza (Shimshal-Gojal) has been appointed a goodwill ambassador of Karakuram Area Development Organization (KADO) in part to recognize the alluring achievement and pride she has brought to Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan. Samina, is an example of the development and women’s empowerment intrinsic to the culture and traditions of Hunza and augmented by the guidance and efforts to educate people of Gilgit-Baltistan in particular women, by the His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan through various initiatives of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).
KADO is a not for profit development organization, focusing on promoting socially and ethically viable entrepreneurial opportunities and skills among the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and in particular focused on women entrepreneurialship. KADO has knitted the traditions and modernization in a robust manner with an amalgamation of initiatives ranging from enterprises in the traditional embroidery and modern Hitech business centers.
It is hopedm that the appointment of Samina will be a greater boost to the activities of KADO and in its effort to enhance women’s empowerment as it is a common goal of Samina and KADO.
