23 Troops of Northern Light Infentory (NLI) Killed as Coaster Plunges into River

Gilgit (APP): Today is Yaum-e-Sog in Gilgit-Baltistan as announced by Chief Minister. Twenty-three soldiers and two civilians were killed when a coaster plunged into the Indus River off the Karakoram Highway in Kohistan district on Saturday morning. A colonel was among the dead, police said.

At least 23 people were killed including 21 soldiers and four injured when a coaster plunged into a deep ravine in Kohistan district on Saturday. ISPR authotities confirmed the incident. Giving details of the accident, District Police Officer Kohistan said the coaster No W-737 was on its way to Gilgit from Rawalpindi with 27 people on board including 25 soldiers, a civilian driver and a conductor. According to reports, the driver of the bus lost control as a result it fell into deep ravine on Korakoram Highway near Samarnala. Of the total four injured the condition of two was stated to be critical.

Those persons died in the accident inclide Lt. Colonel Ikram ul Haq, Nadar Khan, Sadbar, Lance Naik Wali, Akhtar, Rehmat, Sardar Amanullah, Sher Khan, Rasul Khan, Abu Tahir, Syed Khan, Jamil, Gul, Ali, Inayat, Rauf, Shahdat Ali, Sardar, Ahmed Ali, Muhammad Umer, Noor Nabi, Aman, and Rahim. The injured are Sikandar, Shakir, Gul Baz and Wali Ahmed. All the dead soldier and officers belong to various districts of  Gilgit-Baltistan Yasin, Ghizer, Skardu and Basin, Hunza-Nagerand the Lt. Colonel Ikram ul Haq was from Hunza.
