The government of Pakistan collects through indirect taxes from Gilgit-Baltistan Rs. 30 billion. Whereas the total budget for the year of the Govt. of Gilgit-Baltistan passed this year is Rs. 19.3 billion, which is less than 33% of its income collected by federal government. The situation further aggravates when the Pakistani does not even provide the amount passed by the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly based on its own resources. Every year more than 30% of the amount slashed and taken away by the federal government out of what is being approved.
In total almost more than 50% of the total income of Gilgit-Baltistan is illegally snatched by the Government of Pakistan. Out of the total taxes of Rs.30 billion only less than Rs. 15 billion are paid to the Gilgit-Baltistan government. It is injustice with the people of Gilgit-Baltistan who are suffering downwards economic growth and lack of basic facilities for life.
