[News] Imran Visited Gilgit-Baltisan and Condemned Sectarian Killing

Hussain Rundu (Skardu): Imran Khan, the Chairman and founder of Pakistan Tehrik Insaf (PTI) visited Gilgit-Baltistan on Sunday in connection with the on-going sectarian killings of people from Gilgit-Baltistan on Pakistan’s territory of Kohistan and Manshera.  He met with the community leaders of Shia, Sunni and Noorbakhshi. On the occasion Imran Khan demanded that Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan to take immediate action to stop killings of innocent people of Giglit-Baltistan on the geographic territory of Pakistan.

He stressed that government of Pakistan should provide protection to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and all its citizens, if it cannot deliver the government should immediately resign. Imran further stressed that Rahman Malik should arrest the terrorist who have killed the innocent people instead of pointing to the third parties in order to escape from the responsibilities.

On the occasion he was critical about USA and stated that we cannot win the war against terrorism until we will not stop getting aid from US. He added that media is not giving him as much as coverage as it is given to Altaf Hussain of MQM. Referring to ineffective local government system in Gilgit-Baltistan he stated that after taking over the government in the upcoming election he will change the local government system in an effort to make people at grassroots level empowered to take decision affecting their lives.

He met with the renowned scholar and Chief Imam of Baltistan Sheikh Hassan Jaffery offerd condolence and stated I am here not to get the votes but to offer condolence on the recent killing of the innocent members of Shia Muslims at Lulusar Lake and Kohistan. Sheikh Hassan Jaffery stated that the commitments of Imran have raised our hopes.
