30% Tax on Non-Custom Paid Vehicles in Gilgit-Baltistan

GB TIMES: 30% Custom tax will be collected on Non-Custom Paid Vehicles which are currently running on the roads of Gilgit-Baltistan. After paying the said amount the vehicles will be regularized through registration and could be utilized anywhere in Pakistan. For the purpose of collecting custom tax the officials are custom tax collection department soon will reach to Gilgit-Baltistan. It is has created a race among affluent people to buy non-custom paid vehicles at the same time prices have also soared up.
It has been considered as a golden opportunity for all those who possess non-custom paid vehicles and have bought them at a very nominal price. However, legal issues are hindrance to collect the custom duty/tax in Gilgit-Baltistan, because under the Pakistani Constitution and International Law Gilgit-Baltistan been considered a disputed territory the Govt. of Pakistan cannot collect any kind of tax. There are possibilities that if the government will go ahead with its plan to collect the custom duty it will be challenged in the court.
