Strict Security Measure for Shandur Polo Festival

GB TIMES: Preparations for Shandur Polo Festival are to make the event highly secure. At all enter points for public to Shandur Polo Festival strict security measure will be taken at both end in Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan. For the purpose a heavy contingent of police and law enforcement agencies will be on duty in the District Ghezer and Mastung in Chitral.
People holding only valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) for Pakistani nationals and passport for foreigners will be allowed to enter Shandur. Sydeda Sadia Danish has ordered the Gilgit-Baltistan tourism department and security agencies to make fool proof arrangements for safety and security of the tourists and visitors. At the same time she has emphasized to make the event more people friendly and comfortable for the tourist and visitors.
At the both side of the Shandur Polo ground in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral the arch rivals in free style pool the excitement of people is very high. Shandur polo ground is the highest polo ground in the world and every year it is attracting thousands of local tourist and hundreds of foreigners. The Shandur is called the “Roof of the World” as it is located at 3738 meter above sea level where the mighty mountain ranges of Hindu Kush, Pamir and Karakoram ranges meet.
The jubilant festival also includes folk music, dance, horse riding, paragliding, tracking and many more. The final polo match would be played on July 9, 2011.Thanks for Anonymous photographers
