GB TIMES: Alwaiz Mr. Ali Murad (Ex)-MLA GB Assembly stated that “We will defend our natural resources and the wealth of community wearing kafan (Funeral dress) and will not let anybody to enter our valley without our consent.” These statements have been made in the light of issuance of licence to Mohsin Industries by the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on the personal directives of President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. The members of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) have already condemned the action and declared it anti people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
On the occasion the community and political leaders of Ghizer have stated that ‘we will make Ghizer District the graveyard for the looter of our natural resources.’ No one can work in the area without giving community its due share in the income and profit of the company. Interestingly the natural resources in Gilgit-Baltistan are private ownership of the people of the area and government has no legal authority over them. Even if the government does issues license to anybody if the community will not allow the license holder could not work. Until now in all major mining activities the local community has equal share in the income and profit of the company under the written agreements.
