Islamabad ( Hafeez Shraz): The political set of Gilgit-Baltistan should be upgraded to President and Prime Minister instead of the reformed setup of Governor and Chief Minister at the pattern of AJK. These ideas were expressed by the Prime Minister of Azad Jamu-Kashmir, Raja Muhammad Hyder Khan. He had a meeting with the elected member of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) Mulan Sarwar Shah, Haji Jan Baz Khan, Haji Gul Baz Khan, Haji Rahmet Khaliq, Muhammad Ismali and Muhmmad Hafeez.
The Prime Minister of AJK further stated that at the pattern of Mangal Dam the rights of Diamer-Bahsha Dam should be given to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that although we are as good Pakistanis as others are but we will seek to get our rights at all levels.
The delegation of GBLA has thanked the Prime Minister of AJK to arrange first ever such a meeting of the members of Kashmir Assembly and Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. They stated that the mutual difference and misunderstanding regarding each other could only be removed through dialogues.
It is to be noted that AJK Assembly regards Gilgit-Baltistan as its part considering the situation pre-independence of Gilgit-Baltistan on November 1, 1948. Where as people of Gilgit-Baltistan consider there area as an independent state affiliated with the Government of Pakistan unconditionally. However at international level there is a situation of confusion on its independent nature or affiliated with Pakistan, or being part of Jamu and Kashmir, keeping the political and strategic importance of Gilgit-Baltistan which is engulfed with five major political states of China, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
