Gilgit (Ulfat Ara) It is highly discriminatory against women by the police department not to pay equal benefits and rights to those of their male counterparts. Those women who sustaining pressure of the society in order to serve the people and have for their children a good life by being able to afford education, health and food are joining the police force but the police department is continuously exploiting the services of these women. They are being paid far less benefits to those of male counterparts, more often women are force to serve on ad hoc basis, they are neither promoted. There are 12 positions at officer level vacant but are not being filled by the government and administration. There is not a single woman police station throughout Gilgit-Baltistan, which must be established immediately in order to maintain the honor of the people.
The Women’s Rights Forum Gilgit-Baltistan (WRFGB) representative have emphasized to address the discrimination in all government department on priority basis.
