[News] Orders for increasing the number of admissions for the students of Gilgit-Baltistan in the Medical colleges of Punjab rejected

Lahore (Mir Baz): Pakistan Dental and Medical Council has rejected orders of Punjab government to increase number of seats in the medical and dental colleges of Punjab has been rejected on the basis that orders were issued late and were not fulfilling the procedural requirements . It has caused frustration and suffering for the nominated students of Gilgit-Baltistan for admissions in the medical and dental colleges of Punjab.
According to students nominated for medical colleges, Lubna Ali, Abbas Ali, Ali Muhammad Ghulam, Shabir, and Nawaz Shah they are worried about losing a very precious year of their academic life. Classes in all medical colleges have been started but they have not been yet given admissions by the colleges on the pretext that the Directorate of Education Gilgit-Baltistan has given them nomination letter very late.
It is to be remembered that the Chief Minister of Punjab Mr. Shabaz Sharif had announced increasing number of seats in the medical and Dental colleges of Punjab for the students of Gilgit-Baltistan on his visit during the recent elections. Nominated students have said that they have contacted the high government officials of Punjab initially they assured them to provide help in getting admission; however, later they have turned their faces and left the students helpless.
Parents and student bodies of Gilgit-Baltistan are highly frustrated over the unfair treatment to the talented students of Gilgit-Baltistan. They demanded from Directorate of education Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan Dental and Medical Council and Government of Punjab to take immediate actions to resolve the issues faced by the students and providing them admission without any loss of time.
