Islamabad (Khalid M.)Farah Naz Isfahani the advisor to president of Pakistan Mr. Zardari stated that Fouzia Wahab the central secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is under consideration for the governor ship of Gilgit-Baltistan. However, Fouzia Wahab stated that PPP is still looking for a women governor for Gilgit-Baltistan and nothing could be said in this regard befor the final decision of the party high command.
The people of Gilgit-Baltistan are consistently demanding that Governor must be a citizen of Gilgit-Baltistan and they would not accept any person from any other part of Pakistan. However, continuously names of either Sindhi or Punjabi women such as Sanam Bhutthu, Nahid Khan, Shiri Rehman and now Fouzia Wahab are coming into the media reports as prospective Governors of Gilgit-Baltistan.
It is a highly sensitive issue for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan to have a local governor to realize the sense of self-empowerment. However, Farah Naz, media advisor to the president Zardari and member of National Assembly of Pakistan said that it does not matter if the Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan be a non-local. It indicates that Zardari regim is considering to do something regarding governorship, against the wishes of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan
