In the post election scenario in Ghakuch, Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan is in grief and mourning which has left a 16 years young boy dead, who was said to be accompanying a rally of BNF-Naji a nationalist party of Gilgit-Baltistan. The clash started between PPP, the party which has recently formed government in Gilgit-Baltistan and is governing Pakistan from Islamabad, with Balawristan National Front (BNF) Naji Group which is being disliked by the establishment for its nationalist agenda. According to BNF the elections was won by it, however establishment with vote rigging has change the results and declared the long serving PPP candidate Pir Karam Ali Shah winner with a margin of less than 200 votes, that has steered violence across the valley.
Thousands of people from Sher-Qila the largest vicinity of district Gihzer to Ghakuch (the head quarter of the District) thousands of people are marching and have blocked the road that links China and Gilgit with Chitral for four days with two major demands. First to arrest Pir Karam Ali Shah and Ghulam Muhammad the suspected killers of 16 years old boy, second the demand for re-elections under the neutral body may be UN in the Ghizer 1.
Although these news are constantly coming to the National Media of Pakistan through their correspondents stationed in Ghakuch but none of them have raised the issue in their programs. In addition otherwise talking loud and self-claimed champions of human rights in Pakistan have neither raised the issue at any forum and seems of be in an intentional ignorant sleep.
People of Gilgit-Baltistan are looking towards the national and international media and human rights groups to come and support and high-light there genuine issues and injustices happening with them.
