[News] GBDA,MQM, PTI allotted poll symbols

GILGIT, Oct 15: The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has issued a list of election symbols and has allotted some political parties their traditional signs.

According to sources in the commission, the total numbers of symbols is 123 and returning officers have been directed to allot the symbols to the candidates who are contesting the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly polls due on Nov 12.

However, the Election Commission allotted symbols to the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Gilgit-Baltistan Democratic Alliance after their request for party symbols.

The sources said that the MQM has been allotted kite, PTI balance and GB Democratic Alliance markhor. The PML-N, PML-Q and PPP would also get their traditional symbols, they added.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League-Q has field 14 candidates out of the 24 constituencies in the forthcoming elections while the MQM would contest elections in 19 constituencies, party leaders said. source
