LAHORE: A couple of influential figures in the Pakistan People’s Party eye the slot of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, anticipating that Qamaruz Zaman Kaira will not be able to deliver on so many fronts.
Kaira holds three important offices — the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, governorship of Gilgit-Baltistan and Ministry of Kashmir and Northern Affairs (Kana).
The aspirants and their sympathizers have conveyed to the party leadership that since managing so many offices by one person is ‘humanly impossible,’ Mr Kaira should be relieved of at least one charge and that of the information and broadcasting.
A PPP leader who requested not to be named put a question mark over the affairs of the information ministry. He claimed that PTV could broadcast the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to the International Institute of Strategic Studies (London) on Sept 18 only after private channels aired it. source
