[News] NEF has taken control of SAP Schools in Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit, (Ulfat Ara): Ministery of Education Islamabad and The Directorate of Gilgit-Baltistan, enter into an agreement regarding Social Action Programme (SAP) Schools, where the National Education Foundation (NEF) has taken control of the 600 schools with 40,000 students and 1100 teachers. The teachers were not being paid by the Directorate of Education Gilgit-Baltistan for over 6 years, however, this cruelty came to an end when civil society came into action and in the leadership of Raja Kiramat-u-lah Khushwaqt a protest rally was staged in Gilgit city a few days back. The supreme appellate court of Gilgit-Baltistan had taken a Somoto Action in this regard, however, before the orders of the court the matter is settled and now the NEF would take control of the schools and teacher would be ensured of the payments of their salaries as NEF has said to allocate 100 million rupees in for the development of these schools. Further to this the supreme appellate court ordered the Education Directorate of Gilgit-Baltistan to pay an additional salary to the long suffering teacher an additional salary as Eidi.
