[News] Construction of illigal dames and mining sought by Kaira

GILGIT: The newly elected governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Wednesday that the government would introduce economic and mining packages to bring prosperity to the region.
The Governor said this while talking to various delegations belonging to all walks of life which called on him.
Mr Kaira said that besides Diamer-Bhasha dam, many more projects in Gilgit-Baltistan were under consideration which would generate thousands of mega watt electricity.
He made it clear that affected people of the upcoming dams in Gilgit-Baltistan would be provided compensation before start of work on these projects. He also said that local people would be given top priority in provision of jobs in these projects.
Governor Kaira directed the administration to take all possible steps for holding free, fair and transparent elections of the legislative assembly on November 12.
Chairing a meeting of the local administration, the governor directed the local administration to stay away from politics and ensure free, fair and transparent elections.
Chief Secretary and other senior officials briefed the governor on the preparations for the GBLA elections. source
